aquifer pumping analysis - aquifer pump test - pumping test well - aquifer pumping

AquiferTest Quick Tour

AquiferTest Interface Overview

AquiferTest, aquifer pump test, is designed to automate the most common tasks that hydrogeologists and other water supply professionals typically encounter when planning and analyzing the results of an aquifer test. The new design for version 3.0 lets you more efficiently manage all information from your aquifer pumping analysis and perform more analyses in less time and with less effort than ever before.

AquiferTest v.3.0 has been designed using the latest Microsoft development standards for graphical interface design. The result is a program that looks, feels and operates like many of the front office applications you are already familiar with. In addition, a great deal of time and attention has been focused on making the interface as logical and easy-to-use as possible for first-time users while also giving advanced users the control and flexibility they need for handling multiple pumping tests and comparing analysis results. Based on the enthusiastic reviews from beta testers, these goals have been achieved and surpassed.

The figure below illustrates some of the key features of the AquiferTest interface.

The Top Menu Bar

The first three items on the top menu bar (File, Edit and View) are standard items for most Windows applications. These items function the same way in AquiferTest as they would in any other Windows application. The remaining menu items (Project, Test, Data, and Analysis) are designed to guide you, from left to right, through the steps of analyzing your data using AquiferTest.

  • Project - create a project (define well locations and select a map)
  • Test - identify the test type (pumping test or slug test)
  • Data - enter the data for the pumping well and the observation wells
  • Analysis - select the appropriate analysis method for your data

The Project Navigation Tree

The Project Navigation Tree clearly shows the structure of your project data and allows you to quickly and easily access the data from any part of the project (e.g., well locations on a map, water level data from any well or analysis results from any pumping test). The Project Navigation Tree is designed to function like Windows Explorer with collapsing branches and right-mouse-click functionality to add, delete or copy the various components of the project.

Data Input Tables

AquiferTest uses spreadsheet-like tables for entering water level vs. time data or pumping rate vs. time data. These tables allow you to manually enter the data line-by-line or easily cut-and-paste data from external spreadsheet applications and from ASCII text files. The data from these tables are displayed on the adjacent graph, and the data points on the graph are linked to the data points in the table (e.g., click on a data point in the graph and it is highlighted in the table). These tables also give you the option of selecting from three different water level datums (top of well casing, sea level, or benchmark).

Tabbed Information Sheets

The tabbed information sheets facilitate easy access to the data associated with each pumping test and slug test. Each data sheet contains information that is relevant to a specific data class.

Graphs

The Graphs are displayed in each tab where time or distance related data tables are present. These graphs allow you to visually interpret the data in order to easily evaluate trends and identify outlying data points.
